Originally established as an organic farm with its own agri-processing facilities 58 years ago by the Kizhakkekara family, Gingerhill Nest is still every bit of that except it’s doors are now open to the nature lovers. Gingerhill Nest  is a homely farmhouse nestled atop a hill once famed for the wild ginger that grew abundantly on it. The towering hillocks of the Western Ghats rise to prominence behind the hill while the serene waters of Kanjirapuzha reservoir lap at its base. As you drive up winding road that leads up to the farmhouse you are greeted by a panoramic view as in the Trekking through the many acres of plantations growing among other things crops like coconut, arecanut, cocoa, coffee and pepper at the property.

The rooms generously sized and elegantly furnished and comes attached with a spacious European styled bathroom with a hot water geyser and shower. An air conditioner and a satellite LED TV are some of the other modern amenities in your room Each room opens to the long verandah sporting uniquely Keralite easy chairs, for you to relax and enjoy the picture perfect view of the valley, the lake and the birds.

EXPERIENCES:

Take a glimpse at the serene and virginal expanse of wilderness called ‘Silent Valley’. This National park and UNESCO heritage site, located just an hour and half drive away from Gingerhill, represents one of the last tracts of moist evergreen forests in India which have had minimal human interference throughout its 50 million year Biological history.
Handloom Weaver’s Village Rulers of local kingdoms brought weavers from ‘Devangar’ community from Karnataka to weave the clothes of the Royalty and provided them land to settle in Kuthampally village on the banks of river Bharathapuzha .Now there are more than five hundred families and the co-operative formed represents 150 weavers with handlooms.
Aanatharavadu The Elephant farm is en-route to weaver’s village and is home to 14 elephant including famous Temple elephants Known by the name ‘Aanatharavadu'(Elephant home),it is owned by the elephant loving Chettiar brothers and they are at present the largest individual owners of elephants in Kerala.

CUSINE :

The kitchen hearth has always been an integral part of the Keralite farm house and the exclusive domain of the Lady of the house. Mrs Laly Thomas’s inimitable culinary touch will bring out the food connoisseur in you. In addition to the delicacies that will surely tempt your palate during your stay at Ginger hill Nest you can also try our organic farm produce (seasonal) and also our home made cakes, jams and pickles.
