Day 1: Arrive Cochin 

Our representative will assist you at the airport on arrival to proceed to your hotel.   Later the day proceed for Cochin Sightseeing. Go on a walking tour to visit the most renowned Chinese Fishing Nets of Cochin. Next visit is at the St. Francis CSI Church, the oldest European church in India built in 1503, where the Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama was originally buried and pass by the Santa cruz Basilica, one of the finest and imposing churches in India.  Stop at the Dhobi Khana (laundry station), once throbbing with activity, it is now at the verge of slow extinction.  Continue through the small streets of Mattanchery, and arrive at the Fruit market on Palace road where locals get a variety of fresh and organic produces.. Later visit the Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town. Finally visit the Dutch Palace with its beautiful mural paintings from the 17th century.  Back to the hotel. Rest of the day free to explore the colonial Kochi. Overnight stay. ( Bed & Breakfast)

Day 2: Cochin to Munnar  (140 Kms /4 hrs )

Breakfast. Drive to Munnar –a breathtakingly beautiful   haven of peace and tranquillity. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district, Munnar was the favoured summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days.

On arrival check into your hotel. Enjoy a stroll through the Munnar town – Unending expanse of tea plantations – pristine valleys and mountains – exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests – aroma of spice scented cool air. Visit Mattupetty lake and Dam.  Back to hotel for Overnight stay.

Day 3: Munnar  
Breakfast. Proceed on a tour visiting Eravikulam park. The park has the largest known population of Tahrs existing in the world. The park also shelters Atlas Moth, Elephants, Sambhars, Gaurs, Lion-tailed Macaque and Nilgiri Langur.  Later visit Tea museum followed by a tea plantation visit.  The Tata Tea Museum diligently portrays the growth of Munnar tea estates, veritably conveyed through some of the displays like the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. Overnight stay. (Bed & Breakfast)

Day 4: Munnar to Thekkady (120 kms / 3 hrs)

Breakfast. Drive through the long and windy roads, arrive Thekkady – one of the best-known wild life Centers in India and picturesque with unending Chains of hills and spice-scented plantations. Go on a spice plantation tour –  an opportunity to see why the Kerala cuisine is so different from most of the other Indian cuisines. The tour gives you a chance to enjoy cardamom, pepper, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and many other varieties of spices. Thekkady is, India’s largest wildlife sanctuary and  spread over an area of 777 Sq.Kms, surrounded by an artificial lake over an area of 25 Sq.Kms.  Go on a cruising on lake periyar to watch the wild life at close quarters. You can sight Asian elephants, bison, sambar deer, boars, wild squirrels, lion tailed monkeys etc. Evening free for a stroll through the spice town of Kumily.  Overnight stay at hotel. Day 5: Thekkady – Alleppey(150kms/4 1/2 hrs)

Breakfast. Drive downhill to Alleppey and embark your private houseboat. These boats are a reworked version of Rice Boats of olden times, once used to carry tons of rice and spices. They are today converted into comfortable floating accommodation offering enchanting cruises through the backwaters. Cruise through the palm fringed canals enjoying the beauty of rural village life. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch on board. By evening , houseboat will anchor for overnight stay. Dinner & Overnight stay on board.

Day 6: Alleppy -Kumarakom (45 kms/1/hr)

Wake up to the tunes of birds, breakfast on board. After short cruise disembark and drive to Kumarakom – a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres is a favourite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist’s paradise. On arrival , check-into your hotel. Rest of  the day free. Indulge in the resort activities – country canoe rides, sunset cruises or rejuvenate yourself with  an Ayurveda massage (payable locally), to name a few.

 

Day 7: Kumarakom – Cochin

Breakfast at the hotel.  Transfer to Cochin International Airport on time to connect your flight outbound.
